The melded artwork is super creepy but I’m sure that is what they were going for.Modern is in a weird place and the Goldfish crew has some ideas about how to fix it. On a more positive note, the flavor here is awesome and the fact that the melded creature has all of the abilities of the two pre-meld creatures is cool. The closest thing I could think of was Torpor Orb but it only affects ETB abilities from triggering not all triggered abilities. ![]() I went so far as to try and find a way to stop these two cards from always melding automatically but so far I have not found a card. In magic it is sometimes just plain better to have more creatures so you can get in with lethal damage simply because your opponent does not have enough blocks. If you own and control both of these creatures they will trigger meld whether that is advantageous for you or not. The other thing that I find extremely problematic is that the meld mechanic is not an optional one. Taking them in and out of the sleeve and flipping them is just not worth it for me personally. The bottom line is that flipping cards is not my favorite thing to do with magic cards. Ok, if you’ve made it this far I will now share my feelings about these new meld cards. These are the two cards that meld into Brisela:Īnd here are larger versions of the artwork! That was the past, now this is the future, Brisela! Take a look at the precursor and probably the inspiration for the Meld cards, the BFM! Some previous legit mechanics have been taken directly from the joke sets like Unlgued and Unhinged. ![]() Hello fellow planeswalkers! By now I am sure you are all aware of the new Meld mechanic recently spoiled for Eldritch Moon.
